Why Deborah Magyar Gets It

Most leaders in this space talk about innovation. Debbie has lived it — as a business owner, educator, technologist, and now as the person who decides what small businesses across 18 Florida counties learn next.

Regional Director · Florida SBDC at UNF

Debbie joined UNF's SBDC in October 2023 with a rare combination of entrepreneurial experience, academic teaching, and technology literacy. She ran her own consulting firm, taught at Chatham University's Center for Women's Entrepreneurship, directed innovation programs at West Virginia SBDC, and is currently an adjunct professor of entrepreneurship at UNF.

She didn't hire someone to run the AI Institute — she got her Google AI certification in 2025 herself. That's not delegation. That's conviction.

  • Serial entrepreneur — CEO of Launch and Balance Consulting; 30+ years of ownership before leading SBDC
  • Dale Carnegie certified — Sales & Public Speaking Instructor, Leadership Award recipient
  • Google AI Certified (2025) — AI Basics for Business Advising; actively learning, not just overseeing
  • UNF Adjunct Professor — teaches entrepreneurship now, meaning she already controls the curriculum pipeline
  • Community builder — Genesis Women's Shelter (10+ yrs), United Way, Meals on Wheels
The Opportunity

Why This Matters Right Now

Small businesses are entering the most disruptive decade of their existence. The SBDC has the trust and reach. We have the system. Together, we fill the gap no one else is filling.

01

The AI Wave Is Here

AI tools are no longer for tech companies. Every plumber, restaurant owner, and financial advisor needs to understand how to use AI to run their business — or they'll be outcompeted by one who does.

02

The SBDC Has the Trust

2,000+ regional clients already trust the SBDC for no-cost, unbiased guidance. That trust is irreplaceable — every client who walks through the door is a warm introduction to education that actually matters.

03

The Curriculum Gap

Most AI content is either too theoretical, too technical, or built to sell software. There's nothing that teaches a small business owner how to build a real AI operating system in plain English.

The SBDC already has a dedicated AI Institute.

They're not starting from scratch — they're looking for the right content partner to make it real.

What We Bring

The AI Operating System For Small Business

Not another AI tool. Not another ChatGPT course. A complete five-layer system that gives any business owner their time back — one layer at a time.

1
Context — Your AI Knows the Business
Strategy, team, processes, history — organized so AI acts on real information, not guesses. The foundation everything else builds on.
2
Data — Real Numbers, In Real Time
Collectors pull from your actual data sources daily. No more spreadsheets. Your AI sees what's happening as it happens.
3
Intelligence — Your Daily Brief
Every morning, AI synthesizes meetings, messages, and signals into one brief. Walk in knowing exactly where things stand.
4
Automate — Audit, Score, Eliminate
Every recurring task gets scored for automation potential. Eliminate them one by one. Each task automated = real bandwidth returned.
5
Build — Apply Freed Bandwidth to Growth
10 extra hours a week. New revenue streams, more clients, a business that runs while you sleep. This is where AIOS pays off.

The Model

Three Ways We Work Together

This isn't a vendor relationship. Both organizations show up with their best — and small businesses leave with something that actually changes their business.

🎓

AIOS Curriculum Integration

We co-develop and deliver AI Operating System training as part of the SBDC's existing education programs — workshops, bootcamps, or a dedicated AIOS track within the AI Institute.

Consulting Client Referral

SBDC clients who need hands-on AIOS implementation — custom builds, data pipelines, or full fractional AI officer engagements — are referred to Advisor AI Partners for deeper work.

The Education

What Small Businesses Actually Learn

Each module is a standalone workshop that delivers immediate value — and builds toward a complete AI Operating System if a business goes through all five.

MOD 01
Just Ask — Communicating with AI
How to describe your business so AI can actually help. No jargon — plain English conversations that produce real work.
MOD 02
Context OS — Teaching AI Your Business
Build your Context Layer in one session. Strategy, team, processes, history — organized so any AI tool already knows who you are.
MOD 03
The Daily Brief — AI Runs Morning Ops
An automated daily brief that tells you what needs attention — before you've had coffee. No more inbox paralysis.
MOD 04
Task Audit — Find & Eliminate Busywork
Map every recurring task. Score it for automation potential. A prioritized plan to get your time back — this month, not someday.
MOD 05
AIOS Full Build — Complete Operating System
All five layers installed and running. Owners leave with a live AI operating system, not a certificate. This is the capstone.

This Meeting

What We Want to Learn Today

We're not here to pitch a finished product. We're here to understand your clients, your constraints, and where there's a real fit.

A Note on How We Work

Everything we build starts with listening. The SBDC has 50 years of relationship capital with small businesses across Northeast Florida. We have a system that's working. The job of this meeting is to find where those two things fit together — not to sign anything.

We'll ask questions, share what we've built, and leave with a clear picture of whether there's a real partnership here — and if so, what the first step looks like.

Our Intent
Leave with mutual clarity on fit, one agreed-upon pilot format, and a path to the 2026 Small Business Summit.
Not On the Table Today
Contracts, budgets, or formal proposals. This is a discovery conversation.
For Debbie
What does your average AI Institute participant walk in with — curiosity, fear, or skepticism?
Shapes how we pitch the entry point for the curriculum
On the SBDC Model
How do you bring in outside content partners? Is there a formal vetting process or does it start with a pilot?
Understanding the path from conversation to program
On Clients
What's the #1 reason small businesses in your region struggle — still undercapitalization and management inexperience, or something new emerging?
SBDC research cites those as the top two — our Task Audit directly addresses both
On the 2026 Summit
The Small Business Success Summit is August 17–18. Is there a fit for an AI Operating System keynote — and what does speaker selection look like?
David's UNF talk was rated #1 — the audience overlap is direct
On the AI Institute
What does the AI Institute currently cover, and where are clients saying "I need more than this"?
Identifies the exact gap AIOS fills without duplicating existing content
On What Works
What's been the most successful outside partnership the SBDC has run? What made it work?
Model after success rather than invent a new partnership format
Moving Forward

The Path from First Meeting to Partnership

We're not asking for a commitment today. We're asking for a clear first step — small enough to start, real enough to prove value.

1
Discovery Meeting
Today. Share context, ask questions, align on where the real fit is. No commitments. Just clarity.
2
Pilot Workshop Design
Co-design one AIOS workshop for an existing SBDC audience — STARTUP cohort, AI Institute session, or custom group.
3
Deliver & Measure
Run the pilot. Collect feedback. Let the clients tell us what worked. No agenda beyond building something that helps.
4
2026 Summit
If the pilot lands, bring the AI Renaissance talk to the Small Business Success Summit on August 17–18.
5
Ongoing Partnership
Formalize a curriculum partnership where the SBDC becomes the trusted on-ramp to every client's full AIOS journey.

Let's build something that matters for Jacksonville's small businesses.

The tools exist. The audience is ready. The trust is already there. All we need is a first step.
